Depression Therapy

A supportive place to begin when life feels heavy, disconnected, or harder to manage than it used to.

Overview

You do not have to find the words first

Depression can make familiar routines feel exhausting and leave you disconnected from people or activities you care about. You might feel sad, numb, discouraged, or unsure how to describe what has changed.

Therapy offers space to talk honestly about what life feels like right now. At Gravity Counseling, you and your clinician work together to understand your experience, identify support, and choose manageable next steps without pressure to put a positive spin on things.

A conversation is a place to start.

You can ask questions and talk through what you are looking for before deciding on next steps.

I am a licensed clinical social worker with 5 years of experience working with individuals experiencing loss, trauma/negative experiences, depression, anxiety, and addiction. In my practice I believe that everyone’s unique experiences are best met with creative solutions.

Through the use of different modalities including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), solution focused therapy, and narrative therapy we can create a specific plan that fits your lifestyle and goals. Through therapy we are able to start at the goal of how we want to feel and/or behave and work backwards by creating specific steps to get there.

I hold a few beliefs through my practice and these include: the person you spend the most time with is yourself so how we talk to and about ourselves matters; we get the best results when we look at all aspects of health including physical, emotional, spiritual, financial, social, and all others; and we cannot stop all bad things and pain from happening in life, but we can work hard to cope with them in a way that is effective for us. I look forward to hearing your story.

Hello, I’m Jessica. People from all walks of life experience challenges and stressors that can be overwhelming and impact their well-being. Counseling can provide you with a safe place to talk about these stressors, gain the tools to overcome challenges, and achieve balance and fulfillment in life.

I believe in the power of therapy to help you gain insight about your thoughts, shift your outlook, and increase awareness of your feelings, needs, and desires, to help you live your best life.

Using a collaborative strength-based approach, I help guide and empower you to quiet worrisome thoughts, explore painful patterns in your life, and provide practice in coping, self-care, and personal growth. In a non-judgmental, compassionate, and supportive way, I can help you find relief and change patterns of behavior in your personal life and relationships.

I began my journey in the field by working in various residential treatment programs for adults and adolescents while earning my Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology and integrative therapeutic practices at Metropolitan State University of Denver. In 2017, I graduated from the University of Denver with a Master of Arts degree in clinical mental health counseling with a specialization in substance abuse.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC). Over the past 7 years, I have been working with adults in community mental health, providing individual therapy and crisis evaluations. I also have experience working with children and adolescents, offering in-home individual and family therapy for over 2 years.

I specialize in working with adults battling depression, anxiety, trauma, substance use concerns, and clients navigating life transitions. My approach is eclectic, tailored to suit the unique needs of each client.

I view growth as a process of returning to ourselves through healing. Even when we have passed through darkness or felt stuck, we remain autonomous beings deserving of safety, belonging, and empowerment. My work is grounded in an IFS, mindfulness-based, person-centered approach, integrating evidence-based interventions such as CBT, DBT, ACT, and others.

I support children, teens, adults, individuals, and couples navigating emotional regulation, relationship challenges, anxiety, depression, trauma-related concerns, relapse prevention, and behavioral management. Together, we create space within body and mind for meaning, hope, and transformation.

Throughout my journey, I have experience working with diverse populations across the lifespan in a range of clinical settings, including individuals with disability, behavioral concerns, and neurodivergence. I also welcome supporting persons to assist human growth during session. As a BIPOC queer therapist, I also bring a bilingual multicultural lens to session with particular care for BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, and immigrant clients.

Questions about Depression Therapy.

Can I start if I am not sure this is depression?

Yes. You do not need to diagnose yourself before reaching out. A clinician can help you explore what you are experiencing and discuss appropriate support.

What if I do not have much energy to talk?

You can let your therapist know. Sessions can begin with what feels most manageable, and you do not need to arrive with a complete explanation or a clear plan.

Does therapy include medication?

These sessions focus on counseling. If you want to discuss medication or other medical concerns, ask your therapist about coordinating with your medical provider or finding an appropriate referral.

Can I meet with a therapist online?

Secure telehealth is available across Colorado when clinically appropriate. A consultation can help confirm clinician availability, privacy needs, and whether the format fits your goals.
