I am a licensed clinical social worker. My professional experience includes working with populations struggling with substance use and trauma. I also have experience working with those involved in the criminal justice system.

I prefer to utilize a client-centered, interpersonal approach in the therapeutic relationship, with training in EMDR and certification in sex addiction therapy. I am also a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional and Certified Grief Informed Professional.

I prefer to utilize a number of different therapeutic modalities in sessions, such as DBT, CBT, attachment, narrative, etc. I believe in the importance of finding the right coping skills and in the importance of self-care. I also feel it is important to have an interpersonal experience within the therapeutic relationship.

Portrait of Mckenna Joosten

Therapist

Mckenna Joosten · LCSW, LAC

Mckenna works with individuals experiencing loss, trauma, depression, anxiety, and addiction through creative, goal-centered care.

  • Loss and grief
  • Trauma
  • Addiction

I am a licensed clinical social worker with 5 years of experience working with individuals experiencing loss, trauma/negative experiences, depression, anxiety, and addiction. In my practice I believe that everyone’s unique experiences are best met with creative solutions.

Through the use of different modalities including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), solution focused therapy, and narrative therapy we can create a specific plan that fits your lifestyle and goals. Through therapy we are able to start at the goal of how we want to feel and/or behave and work backwards by creating specific steps to get there.

I hold a few beliefs through my practice and these include: the person you spend the most time with is yourself so how we talk to and about ourselves matters; we get the best results when we look at all aspects of health including physical, emotional, spiritual, financial, social, and all others; and we cannot stop all bad things and pain from happening in life, but we can work hard to cope with them in a way that is effective for us. I look forward to hearing your story.

Portrait of Merissa Pratt

Therapist

Merissa Pratt · LPC

Merissa's approach is trauma-informed and intersectional, with attention to culture, race, sexual orientation, gender identity, family systems, and attachment.

  • Trauma-informed care
  • Identity and intersectionality
  • Family systems

As a queer, bi-cultural woman my approach is trauma informed and intersectional, focusing on compounded challenges such as cultural background, race, sexual orientation, and gender identity. We will also focus on family systems and attachment styles.

Together we will work to change patterns and defense mechanisms that may no longer serve you. We will creatively bring unconscious material into awareness offering a more balanced relationship with your Self, while integrating parts of you that have been abandoned, neglected, or forgotten.

I take a creative, strengths and values based approach while incorporating cultural awareness and mindfulness-based practices. Depending on our goals I will utilize a range of modalities including CBT, DBT, ACT along with artistic mediums and transpersonal practices: dreams, symbolism, metaphor, and creative writing.

Have you suffered trauma(s) throughout your life? Do you feel like you are living in a state of constant stress? Did you have a strained family dynamic? I work with complex trauma, LGBTQIA+, medical complexity/disability, and individuals dealing with challenging family dynamics to heal from chronic freeze or fawn states so that they can experience the full spectrum of their emotions and discover their purpose and meaning after Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and other traumas.

I also work with neurodiversity, and adults who are late diagnosed to help them best understand the brain they have, and how they can work with it as it currently exists.

Hi, I’m Lily. I graduated with my MA in counseling psychology from the University of Denver, and am an LPCC in Colorado. My passion lies in accessible therapy and helping clients embrace the brain and body they have. As a relational psychodynamic therapist, I believe that the relationship between myself and my client is the most important component of therapeutic success.

With a foundation of solid rapport, I provide the space for trauma processing, establishing values, creating and implementing coping strategies, and engaging with the full range of your emotions to find purpose and meaning in the life you have.

I believe in treating the problem and the symptoms. I am dedicated to helping you heal and grow into your authentic and healthy self, regardless of what you have experienced in the past. You deserve to live the life you want and have the life you need.

I think of my role as your therapist like the wind that bends the willows at high elevation, helping them grow stronger and more flexible over time. I’m here to support you in building the life you want, always taking care to move at the speed of trust.

I’ve worked in wilderness therapy, residential settings, intensive outpatient programs, and private/group practices, and what I’ve learned is that healing happens through genuine connection: between you and me, between you and yourself, and in your community.

I focus on collaboration and creating space for honest, sometimes challenging conversations, always with the respect and care you deserve. I am not the kind of therapist who just listens and nods.

My therapy style uses a mix of clinical approaches, including EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), attachment theory, polyvagal work, somatic techniques, mindfulness, existential ideas, and the occasional nature-based metaphor.

I specialize in working with clients facing complex challenges including anxiety, identity-work, relationship issues, life transitions, and addiction, including sex addiction/offenders. In our work, you can expect to be held in a genuinely nonjudgmental, safe space where challenge and collaboration are one in the same.

Together, we work to understand these dynamics and nurture healthy, lasting change that extends beyond surface-level solutions.
